Finnsheep are one of the world's most versatile breeds
if you are selecting a breed for cross-market potential!
They are a wise choice for family farms and children.

While Finnsheep are traditionally known in North America for
their prolificacy, we blieve that it is the actual number of lambs
that a ewe can raise, without intense, costly management, that
is important. We monitor our flock closely and retain only the
very best representatives, as defined by our detailed and
tested breed standard, in production. Hardiness and ease of
care are historic attributes of Finnsheep and we adhere to these
principles within our program.
Welcome toTrimburField Finnsheep!
Our sheep are raised in the most natural manner possible that still allows us to maintain the highest standards of care and health. Our modern barns are kept clean and are well-ventilated allowing for the maximum health and well-being of our animals. Our specially-planted pastures are never over-grazed and are rotated to ensure quality nutrition for every lamb and breeding-age animal.
We are committed to building a relationship with our clients, our contact with you does not end with the sale. We are always available to our clients and we incourage our buyers to contact us with any ideas, questions or concerns.
We are a Pennsylvania Preferred farm and proudly display the PA Preferred logo. This logo ensures our buyers that our products are 100% produced in Pennsylvania and that our farm meets or exceeds all PA Department of Agriculture quality standards for health, welfare, and safety! Inspections are completed by the PDA, the USDA and/or other PDA-approved agencies. Our farm is enrolled in the
USDA Scrapie program (PA3781) and is a veterinarian recommended farm.
As of January, 2009, the state of Pennsylvania requires all sheep leaving the farm of origin for any reason (including slaughter channels) to have a scrapie tag or tatoo. All lambs and
breeding age sheep will be sold with proper identification as required by law. To read about
law changes, please refer to the PA Dept. of Agriculture or Penn State University Ag. Division

"In all my experience of buying new animals, I have never been treated as well and
felt so secure as I have with TrimburField Finnsheep. The facilities are immaculate, the
sheep are healthy and Heidi takes the time to assure you find the right sheep for your
needs. Even now, after the purchase, we are receiving advice and support to properly
care for our new ewe..." A. Detweiler
Our sheep have outstanding temperaments and are correctly conformed with strong internal structures for
maximum soundness and longevity. Genetic disease resistance and hardiness are prime considerations as
we continue to expand the genetic capabilities within our flock.
In 2009, we began to monitor and test our Finn fleeces, making changes that would allow us to reach our
goals for fleece production. We continue to increase the weights of our fleeces as well as reduce the variation
in micron count. The density and uniformity of our fleeces are carefully monitored as is the softness, luster and clean yield percentage. We continue to be able to offer some of the finest Finn wool available and we look forward to expanding our prime fleece availability to our customers.
We also participate in the American Sheep Industry's Sheep Safety and Quality Assurance Program!
We are a Level Two participant (Certified) and we manage our farm in accordance with the high standards outlined by the ASI SSQA program. Full records are available for review and discussion.
Federal and State laws require all sheep shipped across state lines to have an official
Health Inspection certificate. This certificate must be prepared by an approved veterinarian in accordance
with Federal and State laws. While our farm, as a courtesy to our buyers, will make arrangements with
a properly accredited veterinarian to complete this requirement, it is the legal responsibility of the buyer
to secure the document, pay the veterinarian service completing the inspection and keep a copy of
this document in their files.
KNOW THE LAW!
As a service to our buyers, we have posted the following information regarding the laws concerning Scrapie
identification and the transport of sheep across state lines:

In 2008 we began discussing government Scrapie eradication objectives and individual state scrapie programs.
With the assistance of several highly qualified individuals from USDA/APHIS and Finland, we began a privately funded project to add RR Scrapie genetics to a portion of our flock. This is a highly monitored, detailed program under strict
supervision of our farm's owner/manager who has over twenty five years experience in livestock genetics and
reproduction. All care is taken to ensure the preservation of traits unique to the Finn breed, yet add the genetic
disease resistance so necessary to the future of any breed residing in the United States. Our farm now has a few
Finn composite RR ewes in production. A very limited number of these sheep may be released to the public in 2012.
Qualified, established clients will have first opportunity to purchase these very special individuals.
