Registered Finnsheep of Distinction

Trimburfield Farm Finnsheep is a member of the International Finnsheep Registry and we participate in the Breed Improvement Program offered to the membership.  Our Finnsheep are raised in the most natural manner possible and are constantly evaluated for superior performance, traits and characteristics.  This allows us to offer quality Finnsheep breeding stock, premium wools and exceptional value-added products to our customers.
Finnsheep are one of the world's most versatile sheep breeds.  They provide a variety of products that allow the shepherd to penetrate a wide variety of markets increasing potential to operate a profitable sheep business.

We monitor our flock closely and retain only the very best representatives of the Finnsheep breed, as defined by the Breed Standard of the International Finnsheep Registry and the Finnish Breeders Association of Finland.  Finnsheep in our flock must possess correct conformation, outstanding temperament, excellent fertility and high quality wool.  Finnsheep Ewes must exhibit exceptional mothering abilities and be able to raise triplets on their own.  We monitor birth weights and daily rate of gain for all Finnsheep lambs and these figures are used to identify superior growth-related genetics.  All wool is micron tested at one year of age to insure continued production of superior wool for a variety of markets.

In 2008, our farm began incorprating Scrapie-resistant genetics into our flock.  The 2013 spring lamb crop will feature RR and QR lambs available for purchase.  Availability will be extremely limited so please reserve early.  Trimburfield Finnsheep continues to improve the quality of its Finnsheep and this year we launched a veterinarian-supervised parasite resistance testing program.  The purpose of this program is to identify Finnsheep lines that carry superior parasite resistance and incorporate this information into our breeding program.  Parasite resistance is becoming extremely important for today's flocks as many Finnsheep are finding their way into organic production programs and the effectiveness of antiparasitics is declining.  Scrapie and parasite resistant Finnsheep will also allow the commerical producer to increase lambing percentages, reduce parasite control challenges and maintain the scrapie resistance of the flock.   Healthcare costs associated with scrapie eradication and parasite control can be reduced with more resistant strains of Finnsheep.
These strains are very popular with Finnsheep breeders searching for the very best in Finnsheep genetics.

Trimburfield Farm Finnsheep is committed to building a positive, interactive relationship with our clients.  Our contact with you does not end with the completion of the sale of your Finnsheep or Finnsheep wool/meat products.  We are always available to discuss your Finnsheep production, healthcare, wool and meat questions, ideas and suggestions.  We have a large number of repeat customers and we believe that our willingness to build positive business relationships is the main reason why.  Here are a few comments from Trimburfield Farm Finnsheep customers:

"In all my experience of buying new animals, I have never felt so secure as I
have with Trimburfield Finnsheep.  The sheep are healthy and Heidi takes time to
assure you have all the information you need to have a great experience.
Even now, after the purchase, we are receiving information from Trimburfield
Finnsheep that allows us to properly care for our new ewe."   A. Detweiler

" I keep Heidi on speed dial so I can call her anytime with questions."  A. Treherne

" You get what you pay for.  If I have questions, I just pick up the phone and call
Heidi; she is never too busy to answer my questions.  So many times today, after
the money changes hands, the seller wants nothing to do with you and you are on
your own.  Not so with Trimburfield Farm.  The service that goes with what you pay for
the sheep represents a great value.   I do not want to buy sheep anywhere
                                       else!"  S. MacGrady
